JOB POSTING – RISK ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST

Intrinsik has immediate openings for an intermediate scientific staff member in our Mississauga location. The position would involve providing support to senior toxicologists and risk assessors (both human health and ecological), in areas such as:

  • Preparation of risk assessment pre-submission forms and risk assessments
    under Ontario Reg. 153/04;
  • Critical review of scientific literature and preparation of toxicological profiles;
  • Risk modelling and statistical treatment of the data, using spreadsheets and
    computer models; and,
  • Participation as part of a team on large human health and ecological risk
    assessments across Canada and internationally.
The successful applicant(s) would ideally have the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in biological sciences or chemistry, preferably in toxicology, with a minimum of three years of experience;
  • Diversity in base knowledge (statistics, biology, ecology, soil science);
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in combination with a facility for technical detail;
  • Practiced familiarity with Ontario Reg. 153/04 and the requirements for completion of a risk assessment under this regulation;
  • Familiarity with common computer programs is expected, and proficiency in computer programming and modeling would be an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (with in-house and external experts);
  • Ability to multi-task (multiple projects/issues) and react to changing situations; and,
  • Ability to go beyond the science (project management, business development, public relations, budget/time management).
